The 654 W 'Lounge Chair' was designed by Jens Risum. The first drafts of the design were presented in 1939 in ' Collie's House of Ideas' at the world exhibition in New York. In the early 40's, Jens Risum, together with Hans Knoll, founded the Hans Knoll Furniture Company where the Risum '600' series was designed. Because of the war and the shortage of materials, the chair was originally made out of parachutes. The Lounge chair is the most famous model of the 600 series by Jens Risum and is now one of the icons of Danish furniture deisgn. The wooden frame on the Jens Risum 665 W chair is available in different North American Hardwood variations. The seat fabric is woven cotton. The 654 W ottoman is a match for ths Lounge Chair but can be bought seperately.
