In the mid-50s, Verner Panton realized many of his unconventional ideas. One came to be known as the iconic "Heart Cone Chair". Defying gravity, the cone was both futuristic and shocking: so much so that, when it was exhibited in a shop window in New York City, the police had to request its removal due to the traffic chaos its presence had created. Despite this, today it's a comfortable chair for everyday use.

Panton is considered one of Denmark's most influential 20th-century furniture and interior designers. During his career, he created innovative and futuristic designs in a variety of materials, especially plastics, and in vibrant colors. His style was rooted in the 1960s, but regained popularity at the end of the 20th century. Panton's most well-known furniture models are still in production.
