Achille Castiglioni (1918 - 2002)
| Achille Castiglioni and his brothers Livio and Pier are considered as one of the animating spirits of the Italian design. After his architecture studies at the university of Milan, Achille Castiglioni founded a design company with his two brothers in 1944. The Castiglionis quickly became one of the most important designers of Italy with their unique and obvious designs. Achille and Pier Castiglioni did not only designed furniture - their most successful (and the most unknown product) was an outlet. Pier Castiglioni already died in 1968; Achille Castiglioni continued his successful activity as a designer for companies like Alessi, Olivetti or Zanotta till 2002. |
