Eero Saarinen (1910-1961)

Eero Saarinen Considered as one of the masters of American 20th century architecture and design, Eero Saarinen was originally born in Finland before moving to Michigan with his family at the tender age of 13. Influenced heavily by his art teaching Father, Saarinen eventually incurred fame for an inclusive approach and ability to vary his style according to the demands of the project

Saarinen’s eclectic forms of Modernist vision can best be interpreted by his first-hand experience of such diverse cultural ideologies, amplified by time spent travelling in North Africa, the studying of sculpture at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris and his graduation from architecture at Yale. Lauded for his furniture design and work with Charles Eames, Saarinen is still celebrated internationally to this day for works that include the remodelling of the Swedish National Theatre in Helsinki and his design of the Washington Dulles International Airport.
