The Artichoke lamp (also called Koglen or Cone) was designed by Poul Henningsen in 1958 and is a classic within Danish design. The lamp got the nickname Artichoke due to the exceptional structure of the lamp. Poul Henningsen designed a skeleton made out of 12 steel arches and on these 12 steel arches 72 plates were attached. Each plate was positioned so that the plate above would shed some shadow on the plate beneath. This makes sure that you cannot look directly into the lamp and see the bulb and the light becomes very soft. The soft light and structure is a classic Poul Henningsen lamp and also is shown in his other lamp-designs. The skeleton of the lamp is made out of chromed steel. There are 4 different sizes and it is available in 3 different variations; copper, aluminium and white aluminium (aluminium painted white).
The lamp is suspended with the help of three metal wires that keep the lamp in place.
Please note that the bulb is not included and must be bought seperatley
