This design was inspired by Grant Featherston's original design – the R160 Contour chair – from 1951. This design is often considered to be an icon of Australian furniture design. The R106 chair was a significant departure from the modest furniture's which were typical of postwar Australia. The design is also the beginning of Grant Featherston's fascination with nature. The Grant Featherston Chair would be perfect as a lounge chair.
