The practical construction of the Standard Chair by Jean Prouvé comprises a simple and functional shape, providing ergonomic comfort. The designer strove to create a material efficient design which is also elegant in form. Prouvé’s engineering knowledge made him strive for a perfect balance of beauty and engineering accomplishment in his designs. This is demonstrated in this chair design, as the well proportioned thicker back legs bear the majority of the weight from the upper body.
INFURN produces this beautiful design with a base of black or white powder-coated steel. The seat and backrest are made of molded plywood, which are available in several types of finish.
