The unique Snow Ball Light by Poul Henningsen is one of the iconic Nordic design classics. The eight separate shades combine to create a sphere, which construction shields the light source from the view. The geometry of the lamp ensures symmetrical light distribution as the shades are struck by the rays of light in the same angle. It successfully prevents any glare from the bulb and creates a soft glowing effect. This amazing design is considered to be the big brother of the PH 3/2 and PH 4½/3½ lamps. Poul Henningsen was a master in lighting design and was one of the most recognized talents of the 20th century Nordic design.

INFURN produces this classic with chromed steel light fitting, and aluminium shades.

Poul Henningsen
(1894–1967)

Designer, author, architect and critic, Poul Henningsen was born into an intellectual and upper class family in Denmark, 1894. Famed for his innovative lighting design, Henningsen was also one of the leading cultural figures in Denmark between both World Wars. Inspired by nature and form, Henningsen’s design style was both unique and provocative. He didn’t believe in the mundane and obvious, once stating, ”All political art is bad – all good art is political.” Celebrated worldwide, Poul Henningsen’s work remains within several notable 20th-century design collections, including that of the Metropolitan Museum in New York City. Henningsen was also given the prestigious honour of designing a piece for Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen.
