The iconic Tulip Armchair full upholstery is an award-winning piece created by the acclaimed Saarinen. The upholstered seat with padded cushion provides maximum comfort. Saarinen designed the popular chair in 1956, led by his vision to simplify and clarify the structure and form of furniture. He was concerned with avoiding clutter, and followed the principle of clean, minimalistic lines that have a lighter visual profile. The acclaimed modern piece has won significant design recognition from the Museum of Modern Art New York, the Federal Award for Industrial Design and the Design Center Stuttgart Award. The Tulip Armchair is not by Knoll®. INFURN is in no way affiliated with Knoll®.

INFURN reproduces the foot of the classic design in a light coated metal alloy and the shell is made of a hand-molded fiberglass bowl. The seat is available in a wide range of vibrant colors and has an optional swivel function. The upholstery comes in cashmere in several colors.

Considered as one of the masters of American 20th century architecture and design, Eero Saarinen was originally born in Finland before moving to Michigan with his family at the tender age of 13. Influenced heavily by his art teaching Father, Saarinen eventually incurred fame for an inclusive approach and ability to vary his style according to the demands of the project Saarinen’s eclectic forms of Modernist vision can best be interpreted by his first-hand experience of such diverse cultural ideologies, amplified by time spent travelling in North Africa, the studying of sculpture at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris and his graduation from architecture at Yale. Lauded for his furniture design and work with Charles Eames, Saarinen is still celebrated internationally to this day for works that include the remodelling of the Swedish National Theatre in Helsinki and his design of the Washington Dulles International Airport.
